Salvation

We live in a time where pictures are constantly in front of our eyes or embedded in our minds.

There’s scarcely a thought that doesn’t have an image attached to it and, as photographers, the challenge is to condense an idea into a compact visual form that is aligned with the message that needs to conveyed.

This month’s image is made up of nine separate frames stitched together. It was taken at a Sydney youth centre where participants were undergoing a “self realisation” process. They were asked to derive meaning from their personal struggles and share this emotion by connecting and uniting with others.

Sometimes one image says what needs to be said. On this occasion, fractions of a second were combined to form a moment of (what seemed like) salvation.
